This is a question I see a lot on the Internet:

How do I memorize ITTO for the PMP test?

(Before we begin, mastering ITTO means memorizing the 47 PMP processes of PMBOK 5.)

Mastering ITTO – A 5 Minute Video

Among other things, I provide private Skype consulting on passing the PMP test.  For recent clients, they keep asking “how to master ITTO”.  This is becoming my standard (and still useful) answer.

You can find all of my PMP videos on YouTube.

Mastering ITTO – A 16 Minute Video

Okay, perhaps you want even more detail on different techniques for learning/mastering ITTO.  Here’s a 16 minute YouTube video of mine that has been watched by over 22,000 people as of 12/20/2014.

Do you Need Help Passing the PMP Test?

Memorize the 47 Processes

If you haven’t perfectly memorized the PMP 47 processes, you need to do that immediately.  Perhaps you’ll consider purchasing my PMP 47 spreadsheet.

On November 5, 2014 at PMZilla, a customer and new PMP named Will (last name withheld upon request), wrote this about my 47 PMP processes spreadsheet.

I purchased Richard Kraneis’ “47 Processes Spreadsheet” for $4.99. This was extremely helpful, and I would say instrumental in me learning the 47 processes. This was the most cost effective PMP resource that I purchased.

Thanks Will.

Guidance Passing the PMP Test

Perhaps you need to talk to someone (hopefully me) on passing the PMP test the first time (or passing it on your 2nd try).

I am available for a Skype consult.  Just look at the top of this web page under PMP Training for my Skype consult services.  It’s 1:1 help that’s practical, concrete, and works.  Here’s what one of my clients said after passing her PMP test:

(Thanks Lori Ann.)

Thank You

Thanks for visiting Richard Kraneis today.  After reading this blog post and watching this video, I hope you can now answer the question:  How do I memorize ITTO for the PMP test?

Very good points on gap analysis. I’ll give your advice a shot and let you know in a couple of months.

Yes, I think gap analysis is the only way to approach the overwhelming task of “memorizing ITTO”.

Excellent study and extensive practice tests will reveal our ITTO weaknesses. PMP students should focus on their ITTO “gaps”.

I took the PMP exam on March 9th, 2015 and passed. But I must say, if I have to explain my position one week before the exam, it is word by word similar to what you have described in this video. I didn’t have much trouble memorizing the 47 processes as I tackled them very early on in my preparation. But the ITTO, were very difficult to remember. My problem areas were Risk, Quality and Procurement management ITTOs.

I was lucky to have come across two of your videos, the introductory one and this one on this post and then my preparation became much more relaxed and I felt in control. I took practice tests, downloaded an app which gave around 553 prep questions and it did not cost much. I made my own notes to remember the ITTOs which I was getting wrong on the practice tests.

Must say I found these videos just in the nick of time and they helped a great deal in structuring the last leg of my preparation and eventually passing the examination.

Akhilesh,

Thank you so much for your kind words. They made my day.

Yes, everyone worries about ITTO. I tell my students, learn the 47 processes perfectly. Test yourself thoroughly to identify ITTO weakness. Then memorize your ITTO trouble spots.

And you did all of that perfectly.

I will be sending you an email, so keep an eye on your “inbox”.

Best Wishes on Using Your New PMP Designation,

I attended first time on PMP exam. I could not understand of my lack. Can you suggest me?

admin says:

Rashid,

You live in Bangladesh, a long way from Chicago, IL USA. Thank you for your comment.

I don’t know you, or your background, but I am so thankful that you have left a comment for me about the PMP. It humbles me to know that someone in Bangladesh thinks I might help him. So here’s my advice, I hope it helps.

I think that learning English better might be the key to your passing the PMP test. I believe PMI administers the PMP only in English.

I am an English speaker but my Russian is still pretty good after all these years. I also understand some German and Spanish. But I know there’s no way I could take a test in Russian, German, or Spanish.

Rashid, my advice is to work on improving your English. Since the PMP test is given in English, if your English is stronger, I think you will have a much better chance of passing the PMP test.

I hope my advice helped you. Perhaps one day we can meet in Bangladesh and shake hands. Thank you so much for your comment.

Best Wishes on Passing the PMP Test,

Richard
